Rennie Mackintosh sketchbooks

£45.00

Description

Calling all fans of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, his wife and creative partner Margaret MacDonald, and the Glasgow Style. This limited series of 4 hand bound books may just be for you.

Each book is covered with decorative paper featuring the designs of Mackintosh and MacDonald, and are bound together with a decorative stab binding stitch inspired by them as well. The front covers incorporate a hinged joint so they open flat and allow the paper to move freely in use.

The four designs here are from:

  • poster for The Scottish Musical Review, 1896 (Mackintosh)
  • The May Queen, 1900 (MacDonald)
  • The Wassail, 1900 (Mackintosh)
  • chairs created for Hill House and Ingram Street Tea Rooms, 1904 and 1911 (Mackintosh)

These books are filled with GF Smith Sketch Natural, a 120gsm 100% recycled paper, manufactured using post industrial waste, with tiny inclusions of colour sprinkled throughout the sheet. The books themselves are roughly A4 in size, though the usable area is slightly smaller due to the stitching at the spine.

Pen is shown for reference and is not part of the sale.
