Sometimes a treasured family tome is a Bible. Sometimes it’s a diary or a photo album. Sometimes it’s a book of recipes.
This Good Housekeeping Institute Cookery Book has seen a lot of family dinners in it’s time. The front cover had long since disappeared, the spine was covered in tape, some pages were detached, and a number of those that remained attached were in pretty rough shape. The best part, though, was finding dried rice still attached to the title page.
Some tape had been used inside the book as well in attempt to re-attach loose leaves. That was carefully removed and the pages were properly attached with kozo tissue.
Paper repairs were made throughout, the book was re-cased and it was sent back home to it’s happy owners.
